WORKSHOPS

Our first Raku workshop was a success. We had a good time and the pottery came out beautiful. click here to see some pictures. We plan to have another Raku workshop in March of 2003. Exact date will be published in the next newsletter.

Team Building Workshop - Team-building ranks as one of the biggest challenges facing organizations today. The Team-Building Pottery Workshop was designed specifically to strengthen teams in a Pottery Program where teams learn about each other through new experiences, foster creativity and build team trust. Participants discover personality differences and similarities while having fun and learning a new skill. Click here to learn more about the Team Building Workshops.

NEW PROGRAM OFFERING

A Journey of Self Discovery - This 8-week program is an opportunity for beginners and for those with previous clay experience to connect thru clay with the Inner Source of creativity. We will explore the Pinch, Coil, and Slab techniques and their connection with body, mind and spirit. Participants will be guided to projects that open imagination and lead to the true artistic experience. Included will be meditation, music, readings and tapes from contemporary and ancient spiritual teachings. Glazing and firing will looked at in relation to the transformational power of the clay process. This workshop will be held at ClayWay, the private studio of artist potter, Victoria Friedman, in North Stamford.

PRESS

The Stamford Advocate and the Greenwich Times featured Lakeside Pottery in the Business section front page describing our Corporate Management Team Building Workshop under the heading "Ceramics studio builds teamwork, leadership skills among corporate workers". To read the article, click here.

CHARITABLE WORK

We continue to conduct free pottery workshop at schools that requests it and gives scholarships for our 8-week programs. The workshop can be conducted at the school's facility or at Lakeside Pottery. Additionally, Kids In Crisis in Greenwich will receive a free 2 hour program every week for the next several months for their teenage children.

BIRTHDAY PARTIES

We receive numerous calls every week inquiring about children birthday pottery painting parties. Since we only conduct parties working with clay (requires at least 2-sessions) at Lakeside Pottery, we decided to review local facilities and recommend one for our customers. Lakeside Pottery has chosen to be affiliated with Art & Soul in New Canaan, Paint Your Own Pottery Studio & Bead Bar.

EMPLOYMENT

Intern: We are looking for an intern to work part time in the studio in exchange for work, the intern will learn pottery and how to operate the a studio. Some pottery background preferred. If successful, a position with pay will be a possibility for the summer.

New Location Director: We begun initiatives to open a second location. In order for the second location to succeed, a lead person with extensive pottery experience is needed. This person will help in brainstorming, evaluation of the different locations possibilities, help set up the studio etc and will be on a path to run the studio. For more details, click here.
