What makes a pot functional? How can pottery transcend mere function, while still honoring it's intended use? In this two day workshop, Steven will throw and alter pots, demonstrate slip trailing, and use the extruder; all the while communicating his enthusiasm and passion for functional stoneware and single firing.

The nationally acclaimed Westchester Craft Show returns for its 12th year this October. Exceptional artists who have been juried and invited from all over the country will showcase their best work at the premiere exhibit and sale of contemporary American functional, decorative and wearable craft art.
- JOHN NEWCOMB - LABRIOLA GALLERY 10/27- 11/27
Accomplished artist, John Newcomb is coming to Labriola Gallery (High Ridge Rd in Stamford) in October. His bright, thought provoking, large scale artwork is a Labriola favorite. You are welcome to join in for the opening reception on October 27 from 6:30pm to 9:30pm. Note that some of Morty Bachar's Pottery is displayed at Labriola's gallery.
- OUR WORLD GALLERY 11/6-12/11
Robert Scheuer / Photography, Richard Sabbia / Painting and Jon Puzzuoli from Lakeside Pottery will be exhibited at Our World Gallery at The Stone Studio located at 82 Erskine Road, Stamford, CT tel 322- 7018. - MATA ORTIZ POTTERY MAKING DEMOS 11/11- 13
Come and see exhibition, sale, pottery-making and painting techniques demonstration of potters from the fabled village of Mata Ortiz, Chihuahua, Mexico on November 11, 12 and 13 at Saga in South Norwalk. Demonstrated by Sr. Jerardo Tena will be conducted throughout the weekend, culminating in two outdoor firings, one each day, around midday on Saturday, Nov 12, and Sunday Nov.13, behind Saga's shop, weather permitting. This is the way pottery was done thousands of years ago.
Hours: Fri. and Sat. 11am to 6pm. Sun. 12 noon to 6pm. Saga is located at 81 Washington Blvd, South Norwalk. Tel: 203-855-1900.

The sculpture shown at right was created by Gail Bernson from Norwalk. It is made out of stoneware clay, approx. 14" tall and represents Gail's recent work. Gail is a massage therapist and has been taking pottery classes at Lakeside Pottery for about two years. Her sculptural work is exceptional. It is detailed, proportionally precise and beautiful. Well done, Gail!
